239.0. "Kosher Turkeys" by GRAMPS::LISS (ESD&P Shrewsbury) Mon Dec 01 1986 13:37

I just thought I'd mention that there is a kosher turkey policy at
Shrewsbury. In other words we can by a 12 to 14 pound turkey, send
the expense voucher, with receipts and the turkey card, to
personnel and we will be reimbursed.

I suggest you talk with your local personnel department before
    acting.

What with the price of a Kosher Boid, I'll just
    buy a condominium.

The policy on Kosher turkeys is corporate wide.

Submit: turkey card, receipt (from butcher) for 12-14 lb. turkey in
expense report form to petty cash, and you'll be reimbursed.

Unfortunately, my family doesn't like turkey, do you suppose they'd
go for a kosher salami? :-)

I'll bet you a turkey that the policy is US only! :-)
239.5Outside the USAMAY14::MINOWMartin Minow, MSD A/D, THUNDR::MINOWTue Dec 02 1986 08:579
I think the turkey (as a corporate gift) is USA only. In Sweden,
we had an office party. (The clever among us managed to schedule
business trips to the other Scandinavian countries on the date
of their parties.) Of course, when I started, Dec Sweden had fewer
than 50 people, and now there are over 800 in Stockholm alone, so
the policy might have changed.

Martin.

239.6only 'home-office'AQUA::SAMBERGTue Dec 02 1986 09:057
Unless things have changed in the field, turkeys are not even
corporate-wide, just the 'home-office'. Eight years ago in Washington,
D.C., it turned out that the office got the equivalent of $15 a person
in lieu of turkeys and used it for the holiday party. Does the
field get turkeys now?

    I don't know about non U.S.A. turkey policy (I don't even know
the U.S.A. policy...and never did when I worked there), but
Aharon, I believe it was Friday or Saturday night in Tiberias
that some of us ate some *kosher* turkey. Paid for by Digital.
Granted I don't know what the mystery desert was, but on the
    buffet table there was turkey.

Fork over that turkey :-). But I'll settle for that Hebrew editor.

239.10Kosher turkey arrived on the truck with the othersSTRSHP::RICHARDSONMon Dec 08 1986 15:279
A few years ago a friend of mine asked her management if she could
get a kosher turkey instead of the regular one, to give to her (very
observant) sister and brother-in-law (my friend is a strict vegetarian
herself), instead of donating it as she usually did. Sure enough,
when turkey delivery day rolled around, there was a special box
with 'her' kosher turkey in it, along with all the regular birds,
and she happily gave it to her sister's family. I don't know if
you could get this to happen these days; my friend left DEC around
    four years ago, maybe five.

Thought you'd like to know that we have no such problem here
in England. I just got my pay slip with 12.00 Marks and Spencer
    vouchers.

Last year I used it to buy small nick nacks for my family
    on Chanukah.

After a 2 day wait and phone calls by the finance people all the
way up to Corporate, I've been told I will be reimbursed for a kosher
    turkey.

I must submit the turkey coupon, the receipt for the turkey and
the wrapper which states the weight of the turkey to the local
people here, who will then send it all to corporate headquarters.
When corporate approves it, they will send the okay back to the
local people, who can then reimburse me.

I guess no one has ever asked for this before around here (Waltham,
Ma.). I just love being an individual.

Do you think DEC would substitute a paschal lamb for the
turkey? With my luck they would probably give me a PASCAL lamb.
