Does anyone have any reliable knowledge of whether "Bone china" 
is considered kosher; ie, proper to eat from?

My concern stems from an idea that I saw on net.veg, that
"bone china" contains ground animal bones. It is for this reason
that some vegetarians eschew these plates. I would like to avoid
bone china if it is indeed not in line with kashruth.

    That is a very interesting question and I really don't ever remember
    hearing it being discussed.
    
    Based on the little knowledge that I have, I would tend to believe
    that it should be ok. 
    
    Firstly, I would assume that any bone matter being used would have
    been dried out completely. This the Shulchan Aruch explicitly says
    is ok. 
    
    Secondly, depending on the amount of bone matter relative to other
    component materials might be less than 1/60 of the total thus it
    is considered negligent.
    
    Thirdly, the manufacturing process which I assume mixes the bone
    matter with all sorts of chemicals will render the concoction inedible
    and this too would then be ok.
    
    Fourthly, the baking process might be considered as having either
    changed the entire entity into a new entity or as having destroyed
    the former entity.
    
    These are the considerations that have come off the top of my head.
    These are in NO way meant to be a Psak. I would be very interested
    in hearing if there has been a reputable (Rav Moshe Ztz'l or Rav Henkin
    Ztz'l etc.) Psak given.
