216.0. "Funny stories go here" by SWATT::POLIKOFF (I realy should be working.) Tue Oct 21 1986 12:03
I found this story in the current Readers Digest.
My parents are Jewish, but my fiancee was not. When I took her
to meet them for the first time, I assured her that the religious
differences wouldn't be a problem. "My parents aren't traditionalists,"
I said. "For example, they don't keep separate sets of kosher
dinnerware for meat and dairy products."
Later, when my fiancee was helping with dinner, I heard my mother
tell her that she had to be very careful because there were two
sets of dishes. I rushed into the kitchen. "Two sets of dishes,
Ma?" I asked, bewildered. "Since when have you been keeping kosher?"
"Kosher, Smosher!" my mother replied. "Microwave and non-microwave."
