    My customer runs a nightly routine to do the DDS$COMPRESS.  Last night
    it got hung.  He does  $MCR MBMAN
    			    SUSPEND DDS @MB$TOOLS:DDS$COMPRESS
    
    Users were not able to do directory services today until that batch job
    was stopped and directory services was restarted.
    
    In accounting the record for this process showed 00:00:01.47 for
    processor time, 192 for Direct IO,321 for Buffered IO with 12:45
    for elapsed time so it looks like hardly anything was done.
    
    Has anyone seen this before?  Any ideas why this occurred?  It will
    run again tonight and the customer is concerned the process might
    hang.  
    
    FYI, OpenVMS 6.1 VAX and MR V3.313 - MS BL6_14.
