When the cat's away the mice will play, it seems. Just thought that I'd
correct the false impression that BIFFO might have given RE: Leeds'
chances in the League and Cup this season, especially in light of our
excellent win at the Arse last evening. I think I better keep the first
Saturday of May (and third Sunday in September this year for that
matter) free this year, just in case :-).
I think Galway (hurling) and Clare (football) are the teams to keep an
eye on this year. Even though I've been know to be optimistic in the
last, I don't think Limerick will beat Clare in this year's Munster
championship, though we should qualify out of Munster at the expense of
the Stone-Throwers (*).
James (not quite gone and certainly not forgotten).
(*) While reading a book of memoirs recently (including an account about
the ambush af Dromkeen [about a mile from where I'm from in Limerick]
during the War of Independence) the author mentioned that one of the
best ways to insult Tipperary folk is to call them stone-throwers. The
origins of the term is lost in the mists of time, it seems. I suppose
the analogy could be extended to their close neighbour Offaly by
calling them the sod-throwers :-))))).
