1596.0. "S T O P L I M E R I C K!" by ESSC::KMANNERINGS () Tue Jul 16 1996 17:22

Given the excesses of smugness coming from the crowtown kid, a new
Basenote is needed to deal with the situation.

Let's face it, the Munster Championship, not a big deal at the best of
times, was a giveaway package this year.

First Cork send out a team of boys.

Then Clare give it away in the last few minutes.

Finally Tip squander a hugh lead and let them back into it.

Limerick will come to a sticky end again, mark my words.

Kev,

Again you are off-topic - literally and proverbially.

I can't help it if I spread my happiness around.

And as for you thinking that Limerick won't be going home with Liam on
the first of September. You just keeping betting against it and I'll
keep wading in on the other side.

FWIW: Limerick were evens on Sunday to win in 70 minutes (Tipperary
were 4/5). Limerick are now 8/11 or 5/6 in most places to win out
(two matches - Antrim and Galway/Wexford). It's amazing how fickle
the bookmakers can be.

It also gave me an immense amount of satisfaction to see that hardly
any of the pundits tipped either Limerick or Wexford to win on Sunday.
It goes to show that they know as little about hurling as some other
people in this notesfile.

                          James.

..I am starting some novenas for wexford to-night...maybe for galway
too..Antrim also...We have had enough all-irelands going astray in
    Munster...

mick,

We've been saying novenas for years in Limerick wishing that
Tipperary wouldn't win any All-Irelands. They didn't work too
well in the 50's or 60's, but worked a treat in the 70's and
most of the 80's.

You wouldn't begrudge us just one All-Ireland, would you?

I promise, when we win, not to gloat too much in here :-).
How's that for a promise?

                        James.

Promises made in Limerick are historically flawed. Anyway you have
gloated so much over so little already, your quota has been exceeded.

Yes Mick, I agree it is really desparate when you are even hoping for
that Galway lot to do well. But Wexford should do the business. And
lets not forget the men from the Glens!! They might spare us a whole
    lot.

Kev,

Oh, so you would also begrudge Limerick (and by implication
me) an All-Ireland? And you a (un-)naturalised BIFFO ;-).
That's rich!

I have to say that the Irish will not be topped when it
comes to that ancient art: begrudgery :-))))).

its too late to do the first Fridays, but I suppose we could climb
Croagh Patrick. The thought of it is nearly unbearable.

Following riotous late-night behaviour in Crowtown there are now moves
afoot to ban alcohol in Limerick, in a last desparate attempt to get
the natives back on the path of decent living, getting up in the
    morning to work etc.

BIFFO welcomes this move greatly. It can bring nothing but good to the
whole of Munster. Efforts should be made to introduce cricket in the
    schools there.

Crowtown will be known here henceforth as Cidonatown.

I leave (CELT) for a few days to pick up the pieces of my
life after the (latest) All-Ireland disaster and everyone
in here goes bananas in my absence.
