1561.0. "Headford Drama Group U.S. Tour 1996." by ESSB::FLYNCH () Tue Mar 12 1996 10:11
In what will be their fourth U.S. Tour this highly acclaimed group of
players once more take to the boards at six venues for nine performances of
their new play Craddock's Well. Written by the group's own artistic director
Michael Carey.
The play is a powerful emotional portrayal of the effects of rural
depopulation in Ireland from the 1950's. It reflects on the childhood and youth
filled memories of a returned immigrant. In a tremendous balance of comedy and
tragedy the story delivers deep felt joy and sadness as we identify with the
many characters that brings this play to life.
Although this is Michael's first penned play it has already received
much critical acclaim following it's first performances locally. The group have
earned a national and international reputation for their many past production
including the ESSO Trophy as winners of the All-Ireland Drama Finals.
