I'm looking for information on, or better yet copies of, *any* books by the
Irish writer (among other things) Robert Brennan. Why? Well, because he was
my Great Grandfather and my son has his name (on purpose). I've got a copy
of The_Man_Who_Walked_Like_A_Dancer, but if you've got any others, please let
me know.

Thanks,
Steven [email protected] or decatl::vore

Tell us a bit more about this writer....

Do you know any more apart from he was your ggfather?

When and where did he live?

you may wish to post this query in the conference Tallis::celt

There is also Kenny's Bookshop here in Galway, which has an internet
site, I think alte vista finds it okay.

What was The Man who walked like a Dancer about? It is a intriguing title.

Not a whole lot, unfortionately. I'm on a somewhat slow quest for this, but of
course am so busy with other things...

> When and where did he live?

Robert Brennan was Ireland's Ambassdor to the US during World War II. He
lived 1881-1964, and was involved in the anti-British movements before WWI.

Thanks much for this reference... I'm on my way!

It's a mystery, the only clue being that someone saw someone in the area who
"walked like a dancer". It's been a while since I've read it (it's ok but not
great :-), so details are a little sketchy.

found Kenny's yesterday using AltaVista, thanks for the pointer. They
don't have anything in their on-line search engine, but mention that
"...our on-line catalogue will cover current Irish Interest publications".
I did drop them e-mail, to see what (if anything) they can dig up.

Meanwhile, any "local" knowledge is more than welcome...

    Steven,

I was browsing through some old catalogues when I came on a book by
Robert Brennan called Allegiance. Your ggf was described as "The
director of Propaganda for Sinn Fein 1919-1921" :-) The book was
published by Browne & Nolan of Dublin in 1950. The copy was an illustrated
1st Edition, but I expect there was only one edition anyway.
Unfortunately it had been sold. They will let me know if they find
    anything.

I certainly appreciate it, Kevin. The timeframe & description sound about
right (I have recollections of being told that he "was involved with Sinn
Fein", but this was in my childhood & wouldn't have know what that meant at
the time).

Please drop me e-mail if you do find a copy; I'll be more than happy to
cover your costs for getting it here if you find one.
