  Attention noters:

This note has been set <NOWRITE>!!!

Don't try to engage this new fellow into vacuous banter
about The Burren, Doolin, or Pot Holing...

We had a guy named Burns that posted the same sort of material
for several years, and well, he's gone now, TG.

    Kevin,

Great timing on your return, eh.

Actually it's good to have you back at the helm.
Maybe now I'll get a chance to sample the finest at your cellar pub.
Could use the time to celebrate my 3rd daughter, Fiona, now 3 months.

I'm at PK3 if you even make down south here.

    Um, Mr Burns

I understand you have some connection with County Clare. I'm sorry, but
I have to ask you this question. You see there is a game played over
here, they call it Hurling, and last year there was a big game between
Offaly and Clare. Now Offaly lead the game for 65 minutes, the sides
were level for three minutes, and for two unfortunate minutes during
which the final whistle was blown, Clare were in front. This came about
after a long ball fron a certain A. Daly hit the upright and allowed a
soft Clare goal. My question is, what were you doing when this fluke
    happened?

I think we should be told. All sorts of rumours were circulating at the
time. I'm sure the main reason you are back at Digital is to set the
    record straight.

    Regards,

1550.11a sense of forebodingMKTCRV::KMANNERINGSWed Feb 28 1996 04:4112
Driving up through Clare the last two mornings, there is something
strange going on. Sheep stand with their backs to the wind, lambs bleat
helplessly. The hills are covered in snow and cattle stand up to their
knees in mud around the feeders waiting for Godot. The IFA has had
calls from farmers in the Ballyvaughan area complaining they are not
able to get the plastic off the round bales, and a TD has called for
    action.

What has happened? What is the mysterious cause of all this? Are the
hens still laying eggs? Which is the star that shines so balefully in
the western sky, what dreadful omen is this?

1550.14MKTCRV::KMANNERINGSTue Mar 05 1996 07:165
there has been a big improvement. The county is now bathed in a gentle
breeze of cool pleasant air from the sea. In the evenings, pretty girls
with long dark hair stroll along the banks of the River Fergus and over
the weekend fine men are out digging gardens. The crows have flown off
    towards Limerick. Why is this?
1550.15XSTACY::JLUNDONhttp://xagony.ilo.dec.com/~jlundon :-)Tue Mar 05 1996 12:1415
F*%k off crows - we have enough of our own without having them
imported in from Clare against our will!

I was listening to the radio on Sunday night and they had radio
commentary on the '73 Munster and All-Ireland hurling finals. It
nearly brought tears to my eyes when Richie Bennis drove over that 70
with the last puck of the ball to send Tipperary into the wilderness
for 14 years. It was just retribution for what Babs did to us in '71
- the dry ball incident!

A great pity that I was too young to remember either event :-(.

"Limerick for 96" - remember you heard it here first!

                         James.

I started the day with a good greasy Irish breakfast
followed by a few pints of Guinness to help digestion.

:-)

Ran wearing an "Irish Runner" singlet, and met many
other Irish Runners along the way ...

McGanns' on Portland Street will be the place to be
on Friday night, when Eammon Coghlin, Neil Cusack, and
other members of the Irish Team will be having a pint
or two before returning to Ireland.

Is there any truth in the rumour that said Burns is taking part in the
    Boston Marathon.

'Twill be a bloody miracle if he gets to 10 miles.

Next thing he will be trying to walk across the water to Ballyvaughan.
