For my fellow Celts in the Glasgow/Edinborough areas I have a friend in the IT industry who plans to be in Scotland in in the last August / early Sept timeframe. He has asked a few questions and I would appreciate if someone can give me some info. Questions are: - Are there any IT conferences, Telecommunications or Computer shows on in the Glasgow area at that time ? - Any recommended hotels in Glasgow/Edinborough area, names, phone numbers, Fax numbers and approx ideas of prices for end of July/Aug. Thank you. Gerry C

Edinburgh!!(sp) will be packed to the rafters at this time of year because of the International festival so you should book now! How much do you want to pay for a hotel? And do you want to be near the city centre? Bill

I knw the spelling was wrong, I just couldn't get the correct one, mea culpa. Thanks for the data on the Interational Festival. On prices; I expect the people would be intersted in commercial type rates .... ie whats the DEC rate in the area and whats the tourist rate. The guy contracts with a large multi-national, so if there are hotel chains, I would expect he could use it. So; approx what are tourist rates and "DEC" rates ?. Glasgow be also packed at that time ?

I stayed in the Glasgow Marriot - Cost 60 pounds for one night - mid week winter. Don't know about summer rates. Nice hotel, pool and health club. Situated in town centre. Handy for everything including Glasgow's famous Indian restaurants and west end pubs. You should be able to get the phone number from your local Marriot. BTW Glasgow is only 45 minutes from Edinburgh by train. rgds Mark

I stayed at the Scandic Crown in Edinburgh a couple of years ago. Got a low 'cash upfront' walk in rate with a referal slip from the tourist office in the train station (It was late October though). It is a gorgeous place in a perfect location for walking to most of the major sites in Edinburgh! /jen

I just stayed at the Scandic last October. I got a beautiful room with a view of the Royal Mile. The location was great because everything was in walking distance. I really enjoyed the hotel and I would stay there again because of the service, location and comfort of it! Mindy Have a good trip |
