I am looking for someone in Ireland who can help me out. About 6 years
ago, my friends boss went to Ireland and for a souvenir he brought her
back a piece of Irish linen. This linen has the country of Ireland on
it and then it has names printed for the most common names in each
region. I have been to numerous Irish shops here in Massachusetts but
have yet to find anything similar to this. Can anyone out there help
me????? Please let me know if there is another file I should post this
    in.

    Thanks,
    Roberta

    Hi Roberta,

I know exactly what you're referring to...a tea towel with the family
names on it. I swear I've seen it in a catalogue like the Blarney
Woolen Mills. Of course I don't have one handy!

Hello Roberta,

Here in Galway there are a number of specialist shops dealing mostly in Irish
goods for the tourist market. Their stocks are probably low this time of year
but I will certainly inquire for you.

It is possible that the piece of linen was bought at one of the airports, maybe
Shannon Airport which has an extensive range of Irish goods including linen.
They will probably have a catalogue. The number for Aer Rianta, Shannon Airport,
(061) 471444. That is the number within Ireland, you will have to add the
neccessary digits from the U.S.

Good luck in your search

regards

Des

1456.8Looking for some sheet music....MROA::DUPUISThu Aug 01 1996 11:0313
Remember me??? The one looking for the irish linens.......

My mother was telling a relative how successful my search was (thanks to
this file) and guess what, no I do not need any more linens, now we are
trying to find a piece of Irish sheet music. Do you think you can help,
or point me in the right direction......The name of the song is The Call
and the Answer, I asked if he (my uncle-in-law)knew who may have preformed
the song and he said several groups/people, but the only names he gave me
were, Mary Black and Dadannen <- I think that's an accurate spelling.

    Thanks in advance,

    Roberta

Contact Green Linnet Records at 1-800-468-6644 and ask if they
can help locate sheet music. This song is on the ablum they sell
called "DeDannan - A Jacket of Batteries"

This song is also on the Dubliners "30 Years a Greying" CD#2

No wise cracks please .... :-)

If it's a traditional song, i.e., not copyrighted, you might be
able to find it in one of the music listings on the web. Digital
Tradition is the biggest and the best, but I believe it's shut
down at the moment due to copyright concerns. There are a bunch
    of others, though; Ceolas <http://celtic.stanford.edu/ceolas.html>
lists some and would be a good starting point. Another place you
could ask on line is the celtic music newsgroup
    <news:rec.music.celtic>.

I don't know how much help Green Linnet would be, though they
might know of a few places around the country you could call.
The only one I can think of offhand is Andy's Front Hall in
(is it Voorhees?) New York. Around here you could try the
Music Emporium in Lexington; I know they carry some celtic
    music books.
