Its a compendium of short pieces, most (all?) of them published elsewhere
already, such as his column in the Sunday Tribune. In particular, it
has the full set of articles that made up the 'World Cup Diary' in the
Trib. These are hysterically funny, and focus on the experience of
being a fan at the mercy of incompetent travel agencies, and bored to
death in Orlando, rather than on the soccer. There are also pieces on
being Irish in London, youthful student rebellion, and Irish fathers
and sons etc. My personal opinion is that he's a lot better at this type of
reportage stuff than he is as a novelist. As you'd expect, there's
almost no mention of Sinead.
