1419.0. "Morning Ireland and Nuacht on the internet" by PH6VAX::AELAWLOR () Fri Sep 30 1994 22:56

Anyone interested in listening to the news headlines from RTE radio can
get a 7 minute clip via anonymous FTP from sunsite.unc.edu in the
    directory pub/academic/languages/gaelic/Rte (note capital R). A 3
minute clip of the 8pm Nuacht is also available.

The files are created daily, and are available in .au and .wav format.
Beware that 7 minutes of audio is 3.3 Megabytes, so the files are also
available in compressed formats (latest.au.shn and lateswav.zip).

The last 7 days worth of recordings are stored (.au format only), with
the filename reflecting the recording date (eg 19940930.au).

The Nuacht recordings are prefixed with Nuacht_.

For those of you with access to Mosaic, the official home page is at
    http://www.bess.tcd.ie/ireland/rte.html.

(If you've got PathWorks 5.0, you may have trouble accessing that URL.
There is a similiar page at http://orangutan.cv.nrao.edu/rte_pw.html).

If anyone has any questions about this service, please send me mail,
(though you'll get a quicker response if you send it to my internet
    address, [email protected]).

"No, it's the people you support" is the glib answer,
but seriously, I've no problem with people having opinions
and expressing them here! It is a question of bandwidth.

I refuse to accept that it is reasonable or appropriate for
you to flood this conference with your in-your-face republican
propaganda. Particularly when this stuff is readily available
off-line. This is not the IRA Supporters Notes Conference.

 Kevin,
Support for Human Rights, and freedom of the press, is not the same
as support for the Irish Republican Army, contrary to what the British
  government might think.

But you do support the IRA, don't you?

I mean, where I come from, An Fublocked (sp?) is only read by IRA
supporters and, let's face it, you've certainly left me with the
impression that you were a pretty enthusiastic supporter.

  Can I have been mistaken?

Unfortunately, the FBI has ordered the host computers with the AP/RN Web
Server and my usual e-mail account shut down. They said that security had
been compromised by an 'intruder' on the system here and demanded all
internet access be shut off until this 'security' had been re-established
to their satisfaction. I believe it may be another 2-3 weeks before things
here return to normal, if ever. Draw your own conclusions as to their
reasoning, but I noticed that the previous day, someone at the host
justice.usdoj.gov (US Dept. of 'Justice') had quickly become my best
customer, downloading every single file I had in rapid succession (easily
surpassing another character at the very Orwellian United States
'Information' Agency).

AP/RN on the web has moved to a new location, at least temporarily:

http://www.cs.yale.edu/homes/fodea/aprn/current/news/index.html

I regret the current issue is still 1-2 weeks old.

Hopefully it will shortly reappear in its old location, newly strung.

If anyone has sent me e-mail to my usual account in the last 2-3 weks,
please resend it to [email protected]. I particularly want to hear
from anyone who can help me get a regular supply of AP/RN in electronic
form (you know who you are).

Just for the record, I hope everyone realises what you're saying here

It's obvious that the big stick is, as i always suspected, bigger in
the States than in Britain. So much for the right of freedom and free
    speech eh?

Funny you should mention that. The Waco hearings have disclosed that
two members of the British SAS were present, and consulting with the
FBI during the seige. Were they the ones who recommended the CS gas?
