1402.0. "Dublin -- theatre festival, etc." by MROA::NADAMS (shadowy glimpses of unknown thoughts) Tue Aug 16 1994 09:16

I'll be on the loose in Dublin for a few days in the beginning of
October. As I understand it, there's a theatre festival goes on
around that time. Has anyone heard what plays will be presented
and/or how I can get hold of some info? Or is it still too early
and the info hasn't been published yet? Thanks for any help.

Nancy

p.s. While I'm asking questions, any recommendations for good
book and music shops? Not the big chains (I'm sure they'll
be easy to find), but smaller places and/or places that
      sell used books and CDs.

Since I'm on a roll here, one more inquiry. Is there a tour
      at the Guinness Brewery?

    Hi,

there is a festival on in October I will post the dates as soon as I
    get them.
There are not many small record stores any more in Dublin but you
will find second hand gear in a market in Georges St. Second hand book
stores are everywhere.. Chapters in Henry Street among the best of
    them.
Yes there is a visitors centre in the HOP Store off James Street and
it is open all year round as far as I know.
You may be able to get a tour in Irish Distillers in Smithfield.
Irish Distillers manufacture all the best whiskeys i.e. Jameson 10 etc.

    re: .1

I appreciate any help you can give me on the threatre festival.
Hate to have to wait till the last minute (i.e., arrival in
Dublin) to go after tickets; with the kind of luck I have in
such matters, the best plays will be fully booked by then!

Thanks too for the other recommendations; I'll be sure to check
them out. Don't think I'll be making it to Smithfield this
trip; if anything, I'm in for another stop at Bushmills, although,
to be perfectly honest, I've spent enough time in Scotland to
have developed a marked preference for whisky. I am quite fond
    of Guinness though ...
