    I hate to plead ignorance, but can we use these from our lowly vax
    systems. Also any pointers on how to best navigate/read/reply to these
    areas?

    Joe.
1355.2MOSAIC magicRUTILE::AUNGIERLive for today, plan for tomorrowThu Mar 24 1994 19:148
    Joe,

    If you have MOSAIC installed on your system it is easy, otherwise get
    the MOSAIC kit and it is easy to install in your own account and from
    the MOSAIC menu you can enter the name George has in his reply in the
    MOSAIC window and bingo, you will see, it's magic.

1355.3Where to find itRUTILE::AUNGIERLive for today, plan for tomorrowThu Mar 24 1994 19:2022
    Joe,

    The kit is available from the following location and I have included
    the simple instructions needed. If you have an ULTRIX machine it is
    much faster.

$ copy SWSCIM::DISK$CIM2:[AD$PUBLIC]XMOSAIC-VMS-UCX.*.* *.*
$ backup XMOSAIC-VMS-UCX.BCK/save *.*
$ @xmosaic-setup
$ set display/create/node=<your workstation here>
$ xmosaic /home.html

OR, for a character cell interface :
$ copy TECO::SYS$PUBLIC:LYNX.* *.*
$ @LYNX
$ LYNX

    There is also a guide to the internet available from the following
    location

Remember to get the special Digital versions which know how to negotiate
around the firewall if you want to access the outside world though!

    There is also a notesfile that covers this technology.

    SOFBAS::INTERNET_TOOLS

    You also need to have TCP/IP Network Protocol installed and configured
    on your system before you can run Mosaic.

    There are several other "areas" in Mosaic that might be of interest
    to other Irish people, and I'll post pointers later today.

    The same reason why Digital doesn't advertise during major sporting
    events in the US and prefers instead <sarcasm alert> to take out
    obscure ads in magazines like Forbes and highly watched television
    shows like MacNeil Lehrer Report.

    I suppose we should thank god they didn't use "Flexware". And cheer
    up - we have the Alpha Generation now! Groovy! Sounds like something
    from the Brady Bunch.

A search on Alta Vista for something completely different came up with
several pages for the Belfast Telegraph Online. A little more diggiing
located the home page at http://nautilus.netcmi.co.uk/beltel/index.htm .

Looks interesting if you would like to see the news from a Northern Ireland
perspective.
