1274.0. "Looking for The Irish R.M. Tapes " by AIMHI::DANIELS () Thu Oct 28 1993 14:45

    There was a show over here a few years ago called, "The Irish R.M."
    The original book was written by Somerville & Ross in the late 1800s to
    early 1900s. The show was wonderful. I've looked for these tapes for
    years and just got three tapes of "The Irish R.M." each with 2 episodes
    on a tape. I have tapes 2, 3, and 4. I'd like to order more and they
    have be in whatever format the U.S. takes, not PAL I know. I bought
    these last week from the Blarney Catalog, but they didn't have any of
    the others.

    The back of the tape said these were produced by Warner Video Ireland,
    but they didn't have an address. I'd like to write to whomever and see
    if I could the rest of the series.

    Can anyone get me the address for customer service at Warner Video
    Ireland? Or does anyone know if any store sells videos in a
    US format and would have these tapes. If they do, could you please
    post the address for them also?

    Many thanks for any help on this.

    	You might want to contact Rego Records and Tapes 1-800-854-3746

    	Although their Winter 1993 Catalog does not mention the Irish R.M.
    	Series, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

1274.2Rego doesn't have itAIMHI::DANIELSThu Oct 28 1993 16:178
    Thanks. I just tried Rego and they've heard of it but don't have it
    and referred me back to the Blarney Catalog where I got my three tapes.

    So, I'm still searching.

    Thanks again,

    You could try contacting WGBH in Boston.
    I think I saw some R.M. tapes in one of their member catalogs. It
    might be the same three tapes, though.
    That was a great series, I'd love to see it again.

1274.4What I found outAIMHI::DANIELSFri Oct 29 1993 16:1621
    I got referred to the Blarney Catalog and decided to call their
    customer service number this morning in the US (I'm in the US). If
    that didn't work I was going to call their customer service number in
    Ireland.

    Anyway, what I learned was, that as far as they know, these are the
    only three tapes *ever* made of the show. They are most anxious to
    offer as many of these tapes as they can, but they had a terrible time
    even getting these. They are trying to negotiate with Ulster TV (I
    think it is Ulster) to get more of the series taped. If they ever get
    anymore new tapes, they will offer them in the catalog.

    Of the tapes I got, they only had a limited amount and when they're
    gone, they're gone.

    Well, at least I have six of the shows (2 on each tape), which was
    more than I had last week.

    So thanks for all your help.
