1202.0. "avoid the drink in Cork!" by TOLKIN::OROURKE (I'm going to Dizz Knee Land!) Wed Mar 24 1993 10:21

Saw this in the newspaper last night. What does this say about Cork?

    /jen

    "HAIR OF THE DOG?

Drinkers of vodka and gin in Cork, Ireland, have been slugging back
distilled dog rub for two years, according to a report in the Irish
    Independent.

Customs inspectors said pubs were sold "gin" and "alcohol" made from
Vetecol, which is a rub used for greyhounds. The makers of the faux
hooch filtered out the strychnine, which is one of the standard
    ingredients in the dog rub.

Three arrests have been made, and one man pleaded guilty to charges of
interfering with spirits to make the drinkable."

Thats a regular occurence down there, i think they like dog-rub, I mean
itself and Murphys have a lot in common.

Another reason to stay west of the Shannon.

    Gerry,

That is not quite correct. Murphy's is after all dog rub mixed with
treacle. Shaving cream is put on when it is poured in order to make it
    look like Guinness.

Don't mind the Murphys or the Guinness lads, when the Beamish is 20p
    cheaper.
