1144.0. "U2,GUINNESS,MEN ONLY" by SIOG::M_CONNOLLY () Tue Oct 27 1992 12:21

Two points about the proposed u2 concert in the phoneix park.

    1) if it happens it will be a free concert.

    2) The main objectors at the moment appear to be the board of
works. They are the body of people charged with looking after
the park. It appears that the large herd of deer resident in
the park will be fawning around the time the concert is
scheduled and they don't want to risk disturbing them.
Also nobody wants to have to pay for the big cleanup operation
       after the concert.

      PS

The best pint of Guinness to be had in Dublin is in my
opinion in Walshes of Stonybatter. But then just like music,
we all have our own prefered tastes. If going to Walshes
be prepared women are not served in the bar.

Walshes sounds like the place for me. No cackling women to blow out
yer ear drum with frivolous chatter!!!!!!!! Next time I'm in town I'll
be sure to go there. Besides Hanlon's won't let me in anymore after
    what MBr did.......8*)

How many men-only pubs are there in Dublin? I know of one in Finglas
(Dublin) called "The Shamrock" but I didn't think there were many more.
    This one was a smokey/smelly spit-on-the-floor type place. I don't know
why men went there, maybe it's to do with that male bonding thingy...
(or maybe it was to get away from their wifes).

    Tony.

Without a doubt, and let's be clear about this, read my lips, and
just so there is no mis-understanding. " it's to get away from the
wives". No offense but they do get girly girl sometimes and it's nice
to shoot the sh*t with the guys every so often.

Now let's not take this the wrong way, it's nice to have a wife around
for the necessities (I'll not go into them here). I am sure the wives
of the world want a break from us "real men" every so often too. That
way they can do the girly girl things that they have a need to do.

    paddy

P.S. I think this will get a rise out of them huh guys 8*)

paddy darling....we won't mention the lunches you enjoy
with us `girlie girls' will we?
    	no of course not.
and the ability to `shut oneself off' at the twist of fingers,
now will we? of course we won't.
i hope one day you arrive home to the sight of a giant life-size
white elephant complimentary of QVC or fingerhut.

    	::DROTTER...
you don't even go out with girlie girls how the hell can you
    	agree with HIS PORTLINESS now???

Now Denise I didn't say you girly girls were not good for something. I
mean who the hell would pick after us "real men" if it weren't you all.
And of course you will do in a trick when we need the cooking done and
served. Of course I can't leave out the fact that you all are real good
at helping us "real men" relieve our tensions in a physical way ya
know. And if it weren't for you girly girls we wouldn't have anybody
to yell at us and make our lives perfectly horrific at times. And I
might add none of this relates to our mothers because us "real men"
konw they are the exception to the rule.....

Hey Denise wanna do lunch?????? 8*)

(BTW, how is the dear boy?!) And here you go, all gettin yer knickers
    in a twist.

Drisheen' (::Byrne), you don't wear any knickers either!!

re .0, if I may for a minute

it (u2) aint gonna be free. I have this from someone who should know ..
the man who'll be getting his girlie girls to sell the tickets.
Apparently the folks who worry about these things have insisted on
tickets being sold, proceeds to charity, so's they'll know how many
mobile bogs, dope sniffing boulers etc will be required.

Now it's back to the wars of the sexes ...

1144.19DELNI::CULBERTFree Michael CulbertFri Oct 30 1992 11:437
for your information "girlie girl" is a very complementary term. Sorta
    like being a "man's man".

If you want to get ahead talk to ::DROTTER I'm sure he'll be more than
    willing to show you.
