piseed out of there minds, peeing at each other and stripping naked.
It was great - you should have seen the looks on the Swissies faces !!!
Time to show them that its nice to have a bit of life in one

| Two results of importance from last week.
Latvia 0 Spain 0
Lithuania 0 Denmark 0
Two great results for both the Irish teams with two of the favourites
from this group dropping points against the "minnows". Ireland still
top with 4 points from 2 games. Denmark are Ireland's next opponents
away on October 14th (?).

1122.5 | Good result in Denmark | CHEFS::HOUSEB | | Thu Oct 15 1992 05:33 | 26 |
| Denmark 0 Ireland 0
N.Ireland 0 Spain 0
Not many goals being scored in this group. Two good results for the
Irish teams and leaves both in good positions in the group. Ireland's
draw in Denmark is especially good as on paper this was one of their
hardest matches. NExt match for Ireland is away to Spain in Seville on
November 11th.
Group:
Pld Pts
Ireland 3 5
N.Ireland 3 4
Spain 3 4
Lithuania 4 4
Denmark 3 3
Latvia 3or4 2
Albania ??? 0 does not matter as they will not figure.
The top 5 still look as though they are in with a shout for any of the
2 qualifying places but in reality I think Lithuania will fade as the
competition progresses. Denmark after three draws are far from out of
it.

This is how the table looks after yesterday's games.
Ireland 1 Denamrk 1
Spain 3 N. Ireland 1
P W D L F A PTS
Spain 8 4 3 1 16 2 11
Denmark 7 3 4 0 5 1 10
Ireland 6 3 3 0 10 1 9
Lithuania 7 2 3 2 8 11 7
N. Ireland 7 2 2 3 8 10 6
Latvia 8 0 4 4 3 15 4
Albania 7 1 1 5 4 14 3
Despite having dropped a point yesterday, Ireland are still in an
excellent position. Of the top three, Spain look the most vulnerable.

Tony Cascarino's lineage is certainly colourful. Born in London of
Irish mother and Italian father. Jack Charlton had some trouble
pronouncing his name so he called him the Ice Cream man.
The remaining Irish games are as follows :
June 9th. vs Latvia (away)
June 16th. vs Lithunia (away)
Sept 8th. vs Lithunia (home)
Oct 13th. vs Spain (home)
Nov 17th vs N. Ireland (away)

An excellent team performance was capped by a 1-0 victory over
Lithuania in Vilnius yesterday. The goal was created by a Steve
Staunton free kick which was deflected into the net bt a Lithuanian
defender in the 1st half. Though we were in total control in the 2nd
half we got a fright when a Lithuanian free kick clipped the foot of
Bonnar's post and was headed away to safety by Kernaghan.

| Taken from the July issue of Phoenix magazine....
UNNITED STATES EMBASSY STATEMENT
WORLD CUP 94 - VISA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
"Following your countries recent run of football results, and your now
almost certain qualification for next year's 'World Soccer Thingy' the
US Embassy would like to facilitate (barely restrained laughter) those
intending to invade our beautiful country by advising them of the
following visa application requirements
* Preference will be given to applicants who are in 'secure
employment'. Those falling into this category include:
- Barristers and other [beef] tribunal staff;
- The executive Chairman of Air lingus;
- Those involved in the mugging of foreign tourists
NOT INCLUDED ARE:
- PAYE workers
- Current Labour TD's on the Northside of Dublin
- Working stiffs generally
* Applicants with relatives currently residing in the US should submit
their relatives names and addresses, along with details of their income
tax submissions for the past five years. This is purely for
administrative purposes and will definately not be used to rid our
glorious United States of some freeloading good-for-nothing, to-bit
damn foreigners, no siree
* Applicants who wish to submit letters of reference from their local
TD or clergyman may do so. These references will be given due
consideration and will greatly reduce the Embassy's toilet paper budget
for 1994.
* Fans arriving in the US with a tatty sleeping bag under their arms
and a copy of 'America on 50 cents a day' are likely to be refused
entry. Other banned items include intact photos of Sinead O'Connor, and
firearms below a certain minimum calibre.
* Finally, a limited number of special visas will be available to those
not meeting our normal criteria. These include:
- Saxaphone enthusiasts;
- Presidential half-brothers
- Non-inhalers generally
- And anyone else Hilary can think of.

1122.25 | The Irish are not all penniless emigrants. | MACNAS::JDOOLEY | Week 1 Dec 1993 | Fri Jul 02 1993 15:05 | 9 |
| It is interesting to note that Ireland and Portugal are the only
members of the E.C whose nationals require a visa to enter the U.S.
So much for European Unity.
It is also interesting to note that U.S citizens entering Ireland for
social or pleasure reasons do not require a visa.
So much for reciprocal fair play.
It looks as if the rich have one rule and the poor, or potentially poor
have another.

| >It is also interesting to note that U.S citizens entering Ireland for

Americans are less likely to overstay their welcome. You know quite
well the reason why Irish people require visas, it's because quite a
few of them go to the USA and stay there illegally. They spoil it for
the rest of the people. The Americans are going to have a problem when
Ireland qualifies for the finals. They can't deny people visas just
because they believe that some may not return. Perhaps they should have
considered this before they bought the world cup finals.

1122.27 | US does deny access based on work status. | CTHQ::COADY | | Wed Jul 07 1993 14:32 | 9 |
|
Unfortunately the last note is not quiet correct; the US can and does
deny access based on the "employment" of the applicant. I personally
know of 2 cases recently - both where a family member wished to come
over for a wedding in US were refused. One person worked in a hotel as
a general help, the other person was a temp secretary.
So I expect that unless the Irish government do some heavy lobbying, a
lot of Irish people will be refused entry at World Cup time.
