Quiet a few years since I lived there, but the Hotel Minella and the
Clonmel Arms were the top DEC hotels then. Now DEC is gone, I'm not
sure what its like, or the rates etc. They were reasonably good hotels
but no means super - they were both old and reasonably well renovated.
From what I recall there were loads of excellent B&B's - particularly
on the Cahir Rd and Mountain Rd.
Restaurants - quite a few. When I arrived there in '83 there were
hardly any, except in the hotels. When I left in '88 there were loads,
including 2 excellent Chinese ones, andmany contemporary Irish ones -
ie, lots of expensive food. Good ones in Cashel and also in other
towns near by.
Either way, should be easy to finf a place to stay and reasonable food.

29/8/92 is right bang slap in the middle of the Fleadh Cheoil na
hEireann (28-31 Aug.). Accomodation in the immediate vacinity will be very
difficult to obtain.

Hi Cristina,
I realise 10 miles isn't exactly "immediate vicinity", but
I've got a B&B to recommend to you. Its called Hollymount House in
Cahir, 10 miles from Cluain Meala. It's very well appointed and in
a beautifully scenic location up in the Galtee Mountains. As a few
have stated already, Clonmel will be heaving around Fleadh time so
you may just have to move outside the confines. For Hollymount Hse,
contact Margaret Neville (353 52 41580/41327)....mention my name
and she may even give you a discount!
Re -1, thats also some very good advice from that well known
Clarrrrrrrrreman
