Amusing notes however the match wasn't supposed to start
until 4PM Boston time. The team that was ahead 1-0 at lunch time
must have started early.
Reminds me of a guy who bet on a horse at 20 to 1 and thought it
was a safe bet since the other horses weren't starting until 2PM.

final score - Italy :3, Ireland :1.
ah well ........... I'll bet on a horse at 20 to 6 so.

I didn't know it was happening. Didn't we only play Albania last week ?

1066.8 | Not World Cup, thank God | CHEFS::HOUSEB | | Fri Jun 05 1992 07:48 | 8 |
| It was a four team tournament between USA, Italy and Portugal. No
relevance to the World Cup qualifiers, our next game in the WCQ is not
until September, perhaps we can improve sufficiently by then.
We still have Portugal to play in this end of season cup.

| No, you were right. The teams playing are USA, Italy and Portugal.
Its worse and worse our lads are getting. Aer Lingus make sure not to
fly over Lansdowne Road during matches. Even the seagulls have copped
on to the danger.

I didn't notice who was playing, but they had short pants on, so it
must've been soccer, right?

1066.13 | a win at last | CHEFS::HOUSEB | | Mon Jun 08 1992 04:21 | 6 |
| Last game for Ireland was in Boston last night against Portugal.
Ireland won 2-0 with goals from Staunton (straight from a corner) and
Coyne in the last minute. Ireland finish 3rd out of 4.

1066.15 | not a good show | GOLF::KEATING | | Tue Jun 16 1992 16:27 | 6 |
| I attended the ireland -portugal match. It was not a pretty sight.
Eire went through the motions, mostly, and the portugal team was very
young, it seemed to me. Of course, most of the fans didn't care, they
were happy to see the team playing in Foxboro. I really was
disappointed at the quality of play
