We have an opportunity to rent a house on Murrough Ave in the city and
wondered if this was a nice side of town. We thought we would rent a
car and try to visit as much as possible in the two weeks.
We welcome suggestions for the first 2 weeks of August.
Thanks,
John

Murrough Avenue is situated in the suburb of Renmore on the East side
of Galway City and can best be described as middle class and
respectable. The school and church in Renmore is kept to a very high
standard and the area is highly regarded in the City.
It is very convenient to Digital, being only 1.5 miles away from the
plant.
It enjoys a frequent (every 20 minutes or so...) bus service.
In the first two weeks of August, EVERYONE in Ireland takes holidays
and heads to Galway. It is strongly advised that you book ahead and
book now by phone. ( Our postal service is now on strike). The whole
population of Galway expands threefold at that time of year so be
warned, book your accomodation ahead of time.
Galways Race Festival occurs the last week in July so you might run
into that. It is basically one big party with a lot of drinking,
dancing and singing and entertainment and is good fun, just make sure
you make enquiries from the locals before driving so they can best
advise you when to avoid the inevitable traffic jams that such large
sporting events involve.

Another Galway city inquiry then. I've recently moved to the
City of Tribes and am in need of a chiropractor. All this lifting
of boxes and luggage and pints has my back in a real state.
Would anyone have a recomendation for a good cracker of spines.
I frequented a chiro back home in the Boston area. Always did the
trick.
