In approximately four weeks time I will be travelling to
Dublin via the North (from Larne). The trip will last over the
weekend and hopefully will take in some of the sights.
My dilema is, where and what are the best things to take in
on such a visit (excluding the Guiness of course) taking into
that we only have a couple of days available. I have heard that
Kilmainen (sp) jail has been turned into a museum, worth a look?
Accomodation is another area that I am a little vague on. Any
recommended hotels in the centre of the city?
Any help is much appreciated.
Yours in Ireland.

Hi Kevin,
Dublin is a city with great tradition and sights to be seen. Given
the time frame you have allowed you will have little time to sight see
once you taste the Guinness.
Kilmainham Jail is of historic interest and has been open to the
public for many years now and it is well worth a visit. The National
Museum has on display many Irish artifacts which you may find
interesting.
You should also try and fit in a Ceile and set dancing session.
Great fun altogether.
Accomodation:: I live on the outskirts of the city in a village
called Lucan. There are a couple of hotels in the area. Choice would
depend on your budget. There are also a number of Guest Houses which
are very well presented in a truly Irish flavour. Once again all
subject to your budget.
Not being sure of your dates I can tell you that there will be a
Ceile in a local Gaelic Club on Saturday 23rd of May. Well worth a
visit.
I will post more info on Monday regarding whats on in and around
Dublin if you state the dates you will be making an appearance.
