1011.0. "IRISH_STEP_DANCING_COSTUME" by HEADER::MWALSH () Fri Feb 28 1992 09:18

Does anyone know where there might be a "solo" Irish Step Dancing dress
for sale? Also, does anyone know where there's a source for matching
crocheted collars and cuffs for Irish Step Dancing dresses?

My daughter takes Irish step dancing, and I have (with the help of
several people because I don't sew) made her last several step dancing
solo costumes. She is 13 years old, and going through a growth spurt,
and even though I am in the process of making her new dress, I am
looking ahead to next fall when I may have to do the same thing. I
would like her to have something really beautiful with fancier
embroidery than I am capable of doing.

I know in the larger schools of dance that the older kids sell their
dresses to the younger kids, but we come from a small school and my
daughter is the oldest one in the school.

For the collar and cuffs - I have seen many collars for sale (at Irish
stores and vendors at the feisianna we attend) but most of them don't
    come with matching cuffs.

So --- any sources? (Dressmakers - stores - catalogs -
    individuals????)

    Thanks for any help.

Where do you live and what size is your daughter. I can ask around.
I have a friend who makes lace collars and cuffs. She was taught by
the nuns in Spiddal. I have no idea what she would charge but I will
find out for you. She does really beautiful work.
