942.0. "Celtic Artist." by BUTE::KDELANEY () Wed Aug 14 1991 03:56
While on holiday recently on the Isle of Arran I travelled along to a small
village called Lagg to visit a guy called Paul Bagnall.
Paul holds a BSc in Archeology from Queens College in Belfast and now runs a
craft shop devoted to prints, stained glass plaques and other objects influenced
by the Book of Kells and other Celtic art sources.
He is a very interesting man to talk to and his work is very good.
I bought four monochrome vellum prints from him for 10 pounds and would have
bought more if his stock hadn't been so depleted.
While talking to him he told me that he had first come to Arran as a student to
investigate the many Iron Age and Neolithic sites on the island for his degree
and he loved it so much that as soon as he was able he decided to settle down
there.
At the moment he is running a tea room and sub post office along with his craft
shop. This resticts how much time he has to devote to his art work and he intends
to give up the tea room and post office to devote more time to the craft side.
If any of you ever get to Arran I would suggest that a visit would be worth
while .
His full name and address are ;Paul Bagnall,Lagg Crafts and Tearoom,Lagg,
Kilmory,Isle of Arran,Strathclyde,Scotland.Tel.no. 0770 87237.
He has promised to send me a copy of his new cataloque when it is ready. If
anyone would like a copy drop me a line and I will photocopy it and send it out.
Awrabest,
Kenny.
