    	heard Mick Jagger do it. He sang it in "Ned Kelly".
    
    		As for the Moonshiner , its only got 3 notes, so you
    	can't tell if its sung flat or not.

     My favorites are rarely sung, but played with fiddles and 
    penny-whistles.  Forgot who did it, but a little tune called
    "The Lonely Boat" comes to mind.  Lilting number that summons
    every melancholy emotion I ever had.  
     
     More up-beat was a tape I got a few years back called "A Celtic
    Wedding" by the Chieftans.  Wonderful.
    
     On the other hand, after about fourteen pints of this or that
    I'll prob'ly be singing Wild Colonial Boy along with the rest of 'em.

    I know lots of *real* Irish songs and tunes - I bought several
    traditional tune books the last time I was in Galway, and I've gotten
    several others in Boston.  That is probably my favorite kind of music,
    and I have spent a lot of time learning Irish tunes on my hammered
    dulcimer.
    
    A bunch of us who play 'real' Irish music seriously considered playing for a
    party at a bar on St. Patrick's day.  The drawback was that we would
    have had to learn all these tacky Welk-type songs.  We thought about it
    a lot, and decided not to -- but I'm still glad I have gotten help
    making this list.  Who knows when it may come in handy...

It should be noted that Lent ends on Holy Thursday night. Godd Friday is a great
day to give it a lash as all the pubs are closed.
