Richard Harris comments on British Headlines
============================================
Irish-born actor Richard harris, who definately has the gift of gab,
vividly recalls his return to London in 1963 after collecting the best
actor award for This Sporting Life at the Cannes Film Festival.
"British Actor Wins Major Award," read a banner headline in a London
newspaper.
A few nights later, after a drinking binge with buddies Richard Burton
and Peter O'Toole escalated into a fight, the same newspaper appeared
with the headline: "Irish Actor in Brawl."
"That's the way it's always been," Harris said in a recent interview to
promote The Field.
"Whenever I do something great, I'm British. But whenever I do
something wrong, I'm Irish. Well, let me tell you something, if they
call be British after this firm, I'm going to sue that newspaper."
Harris stars as obsessive Irishman Bull McCabe in The Field, about the
plight of a farmer who fights for a small piece of land an American
wants to develop.
