855.0. "Time to give up those old, moldy things!" by TOLKIN::OROURKE () Wed Jan 23 1991 12:17
Any Irish care to contribute?
Boomerang boots
===============
"Ardent environmentalists in Britain, with their hearts in their
boots, need despair no longer; they can now recycle their Wellingtons.
In a move that adds new meaning to the "greenWellie," Britain's largest
manufacturer of gumboots is setting up the world's first recycling
scheme. It hopes to establish "Wellie banks," and even claims its plan
could help offset the effects of the Gulf Crisis.
Dunlop, which makes almost a third of the 7 million pairs of gumboots
sold in Britain each year, already is planning to import worn-out
Wellies from Norway."

I've had my Wellies for better than 5 years and they aren't even close
to worn out yet.
If there are millions sold each year I must be doing something wrong with
mine.
Or another thought is there are more and more people getting into the
sport....8*)

p.s. FYI I've heard keVin goes through at least 3 pair a year
