The following poster may be of interest to Irish graduates working
abroad. Readers of "The Irish Emigrant" will be already familiar
with it.

EMBARK MAGAZINE
"Embark" is a slim new glossy magazine billed as "The magazine
for Irish graduates worldwide". Funded by the Bolton Trust, its main
thrust seems to be to inform Irish professionals abroad of
developments in the Irish economy, business conditions and job
opportunities. Its unstated goal is to "recover" some of the 40,000
Irish graduates abroad, whose skills are needed in an expanding
economy.
Published quarterly, May's edition included implications of the 1990
Irish budget for professionals; entrepreneurial opportunities in
Dublin; a focus on the Cork economy; and short profiles of Irish
social/business groups abroad (with contact addresses). Advertisers
included employers like Motorola and headhunters.
Associated with the magazine is "The High Skills Pool", a voluntary
database of Irish graduates abroad. Described as a "network", the
information isn't very interactive, but it already has an impressive
3,000 participants from Europe, Japan and the U.S. The onus is on
you to send them your CV/resume; they will keep you posted through a
local officer in your country. There is no charge for the service.
If you are remotely interested in returning to Ireland anytime in
the near future, this magazine is obviously for you. For others, its
a nice (cheap!) way to keep up with economic developments in the
country.
