The World Cup draw was made on Saturday and by an incredible
coincidence both Ireland and Holland were drawn to play in Group F
into which England had already been seeded thereby bringing together 3
teams which had played in the same Group in last years European
championships...its also quite probable that one of these teams will end
up playing the Soviet Union in the 2nd round...they were the other team
in the group in Germany.The other team in Group F is Egypt.
Scotland are also in a pretty tough group but I suppose at this level
no matches are easy...thay are drawn to play Brazil, Sweden and Costa
Rica.

Pity ok we drew england...I reckon alot of people will probably skip
the match against england and head for Sicily for Holland and Egypt.
Some bad talk about beer been banned from Sardinia for a few days
before the games. What will we do about the heat!!

Great draw for Scotland ! Costa Rica could be the dodgy one, since they're fairly 'unknown', being from Latin America they can probably play a bit, and worst of all we got them in the first game (remember Zaire). Sweden we know about (they finished top of England's group) and Brazil - we'll just hope we don't go into the last game needing a point or worrying about goal difference ! The Republic were unlucky, not the players so much (since they're well capable of cuffing the English again) but the supporters - a 12 hour ferry trip each way to Sardinia will be no fun. I expect the England game will be a draw since neither team will risk much knowing that a draw plus a win over Egypt will put them through. Ireland have a great chance to get to the next round despite it being a tough group. With Scotland it doesn't matter WHO the opposition is, our own players are usually the problem ! The current squad is probably the weakest we've sent to a World Cup final; I hope at least we pick some decent singers since past failures have in my opinion been mainly due to having a crappy team song.
