656.0. "International Marriages ;-)!!" by HYEND::SECRETARY_2 () Tue Oct 03 1989 16:04

    I have an "immigration" type question for y'all. If I marry an
    Irishman (a very distinct possibility!! ;-)), do I automatically
    have Irish citizenship, and he American? And also maintain our
    own citizenship at the same time? In other words, will I (being
    an American) be able to work there? I can't now, I know. I tried
    when I was there. Or, vice-versa, will he be able to work here?

    Jus' curious!!

    Dear Lorelei,

    IF you marry an Irishman the question of citizenship will be the

    least of your worries!

656.2Impossible to find good help!!!!PENUTS::KSULLIVANWed Oct 04 1989 09:5710
    Getting a serious answer around here is virtually impossible.

    Yes, both of you should be entitled to dual citizenship, but it takes
    about two years......and your eleven children will also be entitled to
    it, and if they live in either country 'till they're eighteen, then
    their children will also qualify, it's really the only way to beat
    these immigration laws.

    You're not the Lorelei that the Pogues are currently raving about,
    are you?????
