607.1 | Even the Gardai avoid Timahoe | DUB01::BRENNAN_M | Take that look off your face | Wed Jul 05 1989 13:34 | 13 |
| My gosh,
You really are heading for bandit country.
Re your question contact Bord Failte when you arrive. They have
a complete booklet on B and B's all over Ireland. The closest place
to Timahoe is probably Portlaoise. All the places in that booklet
are quite cheap.
Also avoid ye 3 when in Ireland. They will be acting like a crowd
of drunken Paddies at the Galway races.

| Hey, Tony!
I didn't know you had any irish blood in ya!
You wouldn't, by any chance, be travelling up north to Ulster, would
ye? If so, I'm lookin' for some info on/maps of the Strangford area.
73,
Randy

| While in that neck of the woods get someone to take you to
Morrisseys in Abbeyleix.
This pub is one of the great pubs of Ireland. It has great character.
Also the DeVesci gardens in the same village.

| well, i'm back!
Ireland is EVERYTHING that's been said. And more!
Brenda and I visited Dublin for five days (family reunion), then
Timahoe, Port Arlington, then Galway, down to Tralee, the Cliffs
of Moher (sp?) then to Kilarney and back to Dublin.
I'm sorry we only had nine days there. We'll be back!
We met wonderfully warm people everywhere, and truly enjoyed our
visit.
My favourite places? La Bergerie (the ruined estate/house where
my mother lived as a young girl, near Port Arlington); the ruin
at Dune Mace; Lee Castle; the Cliffs.
And the scenery.
I love it.
