568.0. "AN old man......" by AUSTIN::OREILLY (Maggie Mae's on 6th for Stout) Fri May 12 1989 12:01

I'm 30 years old today - an old fart. I'm feeling it too. But,
tonight I'm going down to Maggie May's on sixth street here in Austin.
It's the only place in town with Guinness although they'll never
    know how to pour it.

The vitamins will pep me up for an active weekend.

You all need someone to pick on today to get you psyched up for
    the weekend.

Come on I love pain! (ask my wife!) Go ahead - your best shots...

    And, have a great weekend.

Happy Birthday, J'OR.
Thirty isn't that bad. It happened to me four years ago, and everything still
works like before. As far as age is concerned, consider the alternative.

568.6Mass. activities for an old geezer...AUSTIN::OREILLYMaggie Mae's on 6th for StoutFri May 12 1989 18:3612
I might be In Mass. the week of June 12th and might have time one
night to get around. Anyone out there have an events list they
can look at - particularly "Irish" events - music etc.

Send me mail at AUSTIN::OREILLY as I don't regularly get to look
    at this Notesfile.

Of course, it will have be an event that isn't too late at might
'cause my old body and mind can't handle the late nights anymore.
And, I might need to hire a Cabbie as my eyesight is failing.

Jaysus, Paddy, eleven years ago, yourself. It was eleven years
ago that I joined the geriatric generation too. And if I'd known
what those eleven years were gonna do I never woulda left the pub.

568.8I was surprised !!AUSTIN::OREILLYMaggie Mae's on 6th for StoutSat May 13 1989 15:5534

They got me all day at work. They had put up seven million signs
    that read:

    Purdy
    Dirty
    O'Reilly's
    Thirty

The signs were everywhere throughout Sematech including just outside the
door of Mr. Bob Noyce himself (co-inventor of the Intergrated Circuit)
    who is our CEO.

And, of course my office was decorated.

And, my plans never materialised for Maggie Mays. No, my wife came
to Sematech in a limosine (sp?). She had security come grab me
as if I had done somthing wrong. Then the limo drove us around
the Texas Hill Country while we had dinner with Guinness and champagne!
(Guinness in botttles - not our puppy who by the way is 2 days short
of 5 months and weighs about 80 lbs!)

Not too bad. Myabe even Galway couldn't have been as good!

I tried some "black velvet" - champagne/Guinness mixed which was
pretty good although I wasn't sure odf the proper portions.

Thanks for your comments - so long.

JO'R : At your old age I wouldn't go off and make any "Long-Term Plans" :=)

I'm typing this SLOW because I know you can't read FAST anymore.

In your case, the week of June 12th, may seem like an eternity,

You should plan things "One day at a time" ...

We'd be glad to show you the sights (once again) if your interested.

I had a great time Thursday night at the "99" in West Concord.
I enjoyed meeting a few more of you "Celters" in person. I'm going
to try next summer to come up on business and combine with a week's
vacation so you all can meet my better (and MORE IRISH) half, Michelle!
We'll leave Guinness at home unless he can get a part-time job and
make enough money for a plane ticket! (No more long distance phone
    calls from home during weekdays!)

My Thanks to everyone who took time away from their Thursday evening
to drink a few beers with me. You're a fine group.

keVin: Thanks for setting it up! I don't care what the other Noters
    say - you're not a bad guy! ;-)

    John,
I hear tell Guinness has your eyes......You'll still be making
those long distance calls......a whole week without a woofwoof.....
You'll never make it......you could put a pair of sunglasses on
    him/her(?) and.....voila....twins......

                       Sorry Guinness!!!!!

Actually, in .10 I was referring to Guinness making long distance
calls to wherever while Michelle and I are off at work!! ;-)

Well, my wife says he has my beard and that we are quite similar
looking plus we both track dirt into the house!!
