| Well while we are talking about soccer...you fellow celts out
there might be interested in last nights world Cup qualifying
results...
Rep of Ireland 1 - 0 Spain
Northern Ireland 2 - 0 Malta
Scotland 2 - 1 Cyprus
Wales 0 - 2 Sweden
( friendly )
This is a great result for the Republic as Spain were unbeaten in
this group. Northern Ireland also had an impressive win and we can
expect a close battle from them and Hungary for the final qualifying
place in this group.
Scotland have by now virtually *secured* their ticket to the World
Cup Finals in Italy next year and well done. Wales lost a friendly
game at home to Sweden(a team that are in England's group). England
won 5 - 0 last night against Albania and now top their group, but
they can expect diffucult games away from home against Sweden and
Poland before they can be sure of getting to Italy.

| Greetings folks!!!!
Have any of ye folks got the dates for the next round of Matches
in Dublin???????..Any problem with tickets...One of the Austrian
TV channels was previewing the World Cup situation for next Summer
in Italy. They were saying how Ireland were almost certainly there and how
some cities were pushing very hard to have the Irish camp based
in their respective places..Seemingly they reckon that the when
the "Irish Circus" rolls into a place its like a festival..The were
talking to this bar owner from Stutgart who was saying how he more or
less payed off his debts etc on the basis of the amount of beer
he sold to the Irish fans last June....
Roll on Italy!!!

| The next series of matches to be played in Lansdowne Road are
against Malta...Sunday 28th May.
against Hungary...Sunday 4th June.
A win in both these matches will put us in good shape for Italy.
As for tickets well thats another story...since our 1-0 victory
over Spain demand has rocketed...and something like 75%(or more)
of stand tickets have been allocated or block-booked. You should
get terraced tickets though...which go on sale this friday for the
Hungarian game...so get in contact with your official FAI agent.
There could be in excess of 50,000 people at these games.
re The Stuttgart publican's comments...I'm sure money was the main
reason but also *no-trouble* is a major factor...Irish fans are
less likely to demolish his pub after *demolishing* his beer!!!

ps Bob Dylan plays a concert in the RDS(up the road) the night of
the Hungary game...some double bill eh?

Dave: The WARNING was in reference to our old pal Dermot, but as
they say in Hollywood, "You ain't heard nothin' yet" ....
Dublin won't be the same after America's "Hottest" Group
"YE-3" appear this summer as part of their Euro_Tour 89' ...
Culbert on the Badhran ---
Burns on the Button-Box ---
And maybe even a "Surprize Guest" or two on vocals :-)
If James Galway is "booked-out", Dermot is welcome to join us.

Sounds like someone better warn the pubs in Dublin..Maybe try and
setup some cages to keep the bottles and glasses away!!.I can see
a few guest vocalists ok.....like maybe the barman screaming OUT!
OUT! GIVE ME PEACE!!!!
Theres a few wee places in North Tipp which would suffer ye as well.
Its ok.. the poteen is available early so everyone is tone deaf...
they like Clare folk at the moment also ..great for the practice
match in the Munster championships!!!
Looking forward to the sessions

I can categorically deny any rumours that YE-3 and mygoodself are
to come together, even for some limited engagements. I just don't
see it working out and to cramp my style and artistic freedom would
be a grevious disservice to my loyal fan(woof). BTW, what's the
plural of fan - Van?
Although he will deny it, the momentous occasion of my first Kerry
concert in the company of the Clare/Scottish postman has led to
a whole bandwagon of look alikes imitating my inimitable style.
To put it bluntly: YE-3 ARE A SHAM and a shabby imitation of THE
REAL THING...

| There are 4 possiable veneus for Ireland's second round matches.
these are
LA July 3th
Orlando July 4th
Boston July 5th
New York July 5th
If Ireland play and win the match in Boston then their 1/4 final match
will also be in Boston on July 9th.
We would have to finish third in our group for this to happen and evan
then it's 50/50 that we'll be in Boston.
Eddie.
