520.1 | try contracting ... | CSCMA::COSTIGAN | Paul SSM-CSCMA - 292 2284 | Tue Mar 07 1989 12:38 | 13 |
| Jonathan ,
I was also very impressed by Munich any time I visited . There are
a lot of recently graduated Electrical/Electronic Engineers ( mostly
from UCD and Trinity ) working there for Siemens . The one useful
bit of information I have for you is that the VMS contract market is
very good there , even for non-German speakers . You can easily
make DM 50/hr and I have heard stories of a lot more ....
I would think that london is the best place to look into such
opportunities ....

| hello Jonathan,
Your right, the people are great and the city is impressive.
I happen to be off to Munich on the 19th March to visit the Local
Engineering Group - I'll try and suss out what I can find about
local hires if you're interested.
You might also want to drop a MAIL to Anne Muller (RDGENG::MULLER),
who is setting up a new group out there for Ed Services.
Regards,
Colin

| Hallo Jonathon,
I've been here (M) for 1.5+ years as a contractor, and
yes indeed it is a pleasant place. But then that is all relative
and it depends what you are looking for. The biggest problem you
would have here is accomodation. Very hard to get and expensive
when you can get it. If you want any specific details then mail
me direct @RTO.

There are a bunch of Irish that work, or have worked
in Kaufbeuren (KBO), which is about an hours drive from
Munich. You might try Brendan Collins for pointers...
By the way, re: replies .7, .8, .9: Gimmie a break and keep those
to a a note called grafetti or some such, and I won't have to waste
time having to skip over them.
Sincerely,
Mike

Ode To The Begrudger.
There once was a man called McCrohan,
Whose ego just wouldn't stop growin',
Ne'er a minute for the frivilous,
His time being so precious,
That his reading these notes,
In itself is a joke,
We'll forgive him,
And not take him serious,
He's delerious.
He crossed the three lads,
In the notes file one day,
He didn't appreciate,
What they had to say,
They gave him the finger,
Saying here, sit and linger,
Life's too short for listening
to mooaaannnners.
God protect us from people,
With minds so feeble, and
Hearts with so little joy,
That they don't see this tack,
Is no more than crack.
So off with you now,
We're hittin' the town,
And trust me.......,
You ain't invited.

How duin'
I started working here in Munich 3 weeks ago in the CIMIE
group. From the little time I have spent over here so far it seems to be a
hellofa place. The hardest part about settling in over here is finding
accomadation. I still havent found a flat yet.
Re. .10. Yes there are a crowd of Irish guys in Kaufbeuren. I was
actually there last weekend, and have a few (!) drinkies with the
infamous Mick Keyes and Co. Was a relief to get back to Munich!
If any of you people out there are interested in going for a pint (or two)
sometime just drop me a note. My mail address is BYENG0::CCOPAS.
till the next time,
Cathal.
