| Hello there!
My name is Mike Graham, working here in Galway.
Some of your conference colleagues have been round to me (notably
the Snake and Liam Ferrie) asking if I can help with this request
since I seem to be the tame "Anglican" in their midst! I'm involved
as an office bearer in St Nicholas' Church of Ireland here in Galway
so I think that's the real reason.
Anyway, I've done some checking for you and discovered the following
facts:
The Book of Common Prayer WAS printed in Irish but has unfortunately
now been out of print for some time and I can't find any new copies
available anywhere. The only hope might be to try secondhand bookshops
or secondhand rectors (priests) who may have a spare copy. My own
rector has one but I can't really ask him for that!
However the NEW Prayer Book (198- something edition) IS available
and can be purchased for approximately IR4.00 (about $6.00 currently).
This is the one in use in almost all of the Anglican churches now -
certainly it is in most of the Churches of Ireland.
Please contact your friends and let them know the above. Then,
if you wish, contact me by MAIL (on GAOV08::MGRAHAM) and let me
know if you would like me to either pursue the "old" Book of Common
Prayer or purchase a "new" Alternative Prayer Book for you.
Just a final thought - it might even be possible to acquire the
Prayer Books in the Scots Gaelic if required. I have contacts in
the Scottish Episcopal Church who may be able to help if that's
required (I was a Scots Piscie prior to moving over here last year!).
Since I'm not a regular (or even irregular!) CELT conference
participant, please contact me by MAIL or leave a note here for
the Snake or Liam to pass on.
Regards,
Mike

Yes, we met up with Marge Kinsala soon after arriving in Austin.
She has a lovely family and excellent "Irish Restaurant". Exepensive,
but wonderful food. In fact, I've been the source of much new business
for her as I've referred all the folks here at Sematech to her!
She also owns two Irish Wolfhounds *from Ireland*!!
She put us into contact with the McMorrows, another Irish family
(fantasticallt talented family - father's has his own "language
consulting firm" (speaks many languages) and the mother is an M.D.
One child plays the harp, both kids are "A" students and both speak
some Japanese. The MocMorrows currently receive the Irish Emigrant
through me.
