The BROOMSTONES CURLING CLUBS in Wayland, Massachusetts, will host
an Open House for Digital Employees on Friday evening, November 4, 1988.
Enjoy free refreshments and hors d'oeuvres while learning about this
winter sport. A short film and a few lessons in the warm room will
prepare you for curling. The on-ice instructors will guide you
through the curling delivery and sweeping techniques used during the
game. That's all it takes to begin curling. It's that easy.
Curling can be as competitive as you want to make it. It
is a game of fitness and finesse where strategy and shotmaking ability
determine the winning team. Because experience and precision are as
critical to performance as athletic ability, curling is also a sport for
players of all ages. Annual competitions are held at the state,
national and world levels.
Curling is also a very social sport. BROOMSTONES and many other curling
clubs throughout the country host weekend tournaments, or bonspiels,
where the "off-ice" activities are just as popular as the game itself!
Contrary to popular belief, ice skates are not a part of curling gear.
Footwear consists of crepe-soled shoes with one shoe equipped with a
teflon slider. Sliders will be provided at the open house. Wear
loose-fitting pants, a warm sweater, sneakers and gloves.

Good Luck and Good game with your Curling Extravaganza.
Incidently, I'm in a team which lost out to the European
Junior Champions by one shot last year in the Scottish
Championships. If you want a challenge match over here
any time, let me know !!
