423.0. "Irish Musicans... Aug 89 tour of Northeast" by BMT::LIEBERMAN (Pat L. - FPI Marketing Support) Thu Aug 18 1988 16:32

My sister has been involved with a cultural music and dance exchange
program for the past several years.
Next summer (last 2 weeks of Ausgust 89) she is hosting a group
of Irish Musicans on a 2 week tour, from North Carolina to Boston.
She is looking for tour bookings, at various Ethnic Festivals or
hotels in Maryland, New Jersey, Penna, Mass, New York state,
during this period of time. She is also hoping to find
some nice people in those same area that may want to let a
few musicians spend a nite at their homes.
This group (8 people) usually get from $1,000 to $1,8000 per booking.
This is about what their expenses will be to cover this trip and
rent a 2 VANs for them and their equipment.
I do not have all the details on the group, but they play at various
Cultural exchange festivals in Europe, and were in North Carolina
at a dance/music festival last year.

I know that next August is a year away, but this type of tour
requires that someone begin getting the bookings now.
Any suggestions as to places to contact that may be interested
in Irish Folk Music from this group would be apprecited.
Please give me the telephone number or address of the contact,
if you can.
Thank you,
Pat (McKay) Lieberman

    	You might try:

    	Tommy McGann
    	1882 Irish Embassy Pub
    	502 Foundry St.
    	South Easton, MA

	(617)238-1882

They just had the Second Annual Irish Music Festival there
on August 14. Proceeds went to the Pat O'Connell Fund (cancer
treatment in Ireland). It was a benefit, so I don't know about
the money aspect, but it's worth a try...
