Re. If I Should Fall From Grace With God

That is a great Lp. Try and find the 12" single of the song,
its a better version. Kristy sings background and theres lots of
music solos. On the B-side theres live cuts of Sally Macleanne,
    Pair Of Brown Eyes.
Another version of ...Grace With God is on the Comp.Lp Straight
    To Hell.

You forgot the best concert Jerry,

Paul Brady in Concert at the Somerville Theater this coming
Sunday night May 15, 1988 at about 7:30.

He has great ability to mix traditional celtic sounds and
nuances into the newer pop/folk/rock modicum.

    Be there in Davis Square.

My word of the day calander was mixed up. I meant medium
    not modicum.

    Sincerely,
    George

p.s. Paddy, put that dictionary away.

    re:.4

Well, I didn't exactly *forget* the Paul Brady concert. I was
just transcribing the information from an ad listing the three
concerts mentioned in .0 (they're all being put on by the same
    promoter).

    re: IF I SHOULD FALL...

I agree most heartily. This is fast becoming one of my "default"
CD's (meaning, if I can't think of anything else specific to put
on, I put on a "default" -- the other two default CD's are Brubeck's
TIME OUT and Pyewackett's THIS CRAZY PARADISE).

Now what's this about a 12" EP with tracks not on the album? I
have a CD-single with two tracks from the album and one not, but
I've become enough of a Pogues fan to hunt down whatever material
    I can find.

I second the mention of STRAIGHT TO HELL (a movie soundtrack album,
including other artists/groups along with the Pogues).

And while I'm at it, I should plug another anthology LP/Cassette/CD:
LIVE FOR IRELAND, a recording of a benefit to feed the hungry. Just
to show that it's relevant to this note, it includes one track each
from a number of major Celtic artists/groups, including The Pogues,
Clannad, Christy Moore, and, yes, Paul Brady.

    Jerry,

Could you give me an idea what the Pyewackett's "This Crazy Paradise"
    is like.

    Thanks in advance.

    re:.7

    Thanks. I'll take a look at UK_MUSIC.

    re:.8

Pyewackett is almost indescribeable, but I'll try. The band has five
members: Ian Blake, Rosie Cross, Mark Emerson, Bill Martin, and
Ralph Salmins. The instruments they play range from hammer dulcimer
and violin, through clarinets and bassoons, to synthesizers and
drum machines. The music is equally eclectic. The songs on THIS
    CRAZY PARADISE are:

"For Saheli" -- a song about dowry deaths in India

"Christmas Day in the Morning" -- a traditional instrumental mostly
carried by hammer dulcimer and violin. My second favorite on
    	the album.

"Love Me or Leave Me" -- a 1920's jazz number.

"Homes for Heroes" -- a contemporary anti-nuke folk song.

"Ek se Windhoek toe nou" -- An instrumental written by African jazz
    	musician Abdullah Ibrahim.

"Myoho"/"Resting Place" -- the former (on CD only) is an instrumental
consisting mostly of violin and hammer dulcimer, which leads
into the latter, a turn of the century Yiddish sweatshop song.
This is the most electronic of the numbers, and is my favorite
(the second fact is not necessarily based on the first). The
synthesizers, drum machine, and viola really mix well. It has
a very repetitious rhythm, but that gives the whole thing the
    	feel of a chant.

"Illusions" -- a Marlene Dietrich number.

"Fever" -- an old standard done by Peggy Lee (and also covered
recently by the Neville Brothers). Mostly done a capella.

Pyewackett is pretty unpredictable. The only other of their albums
I have , 7 TO MIDNIGHT, is almost completely 17th Century dance
tunes, with one original tune in the same style, and one song from
    Rogers and Hart.

He was last seen on a MBTA bus, headed for Park Street. :-)
