353.0. "Belfast's Newspapers?" by RDGCSS::POLLARD (Campaign to Abolish Mondays) Tue Mar 29 1988 07:43

    Can anybody out there help me? I'm researching my family background
    - especially on my father's side. He came from Belfast, and at
    the moment I'm trying to research the circumstances surrounding
    my grandfather's death.

    My grandfather was a merchant seaman who died in an accident at
    sea when my father was three. As a child I remember being shown
    a newspaper clipping of an account of the inquest from a Belfast
    paper. My memory of the details is very vague, and I would like
    to locate that newspaper story.

    Does anyone out there know what local papers cover the Belfast area,
    and if so if they go back as far as 1928/29? That was the year of
    my grandfather's death (I've applied for a death certificate but
    haven't received it yet).

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Val
