My daughter is studying Celtic Culture in school and asked me to forward this request. Does anyone know if the writings of Gildas the Monk are available in book form and where they can be obtained? We live in New Hampshire (U.S.A.). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Andy

I hadn't but did a little research among various books in my collection. The only reference I found was on pp52-53 of Early Christian Ireland by Maire and Liam de Paor. The following is what it says: "..bishops ceased to have an administrative function, although this may be partly due to the strictures on the bishops of his day of Gildas, who seems to have been the British teacher held in greatest regard by the Irish at this time." The reference is to the sixth century. |
