300.0. "Xmas get-togethers" by TALLIS::DARCY () Mon Nov 30 1987 13:48
Cumann na Gaeilge is having their annual Christmas "L Gaeilge"
at St. Mark's Parish Hall in Dorchester this Saturday, the 5th of
December at 3ish. (No, 3ish is not Irish, it's when you can't
remember exactly when the affair starts).
They'll be plays in Irish, Poetry, Songs, sean-nos, followed by
a Gaelic Mass at 5:30 upstairs in the Church. Afterwards, there'll
be a Hot full-course meal (I think it's chicken with all the
trimmings), then after a ceili with Joe Joyce. After that, I'm
sure we'll be heading out to Boston for some more fun.
If you want more info or reservations contact Peggy Clougherty
at 739-5032.

The Irish Heritage Society is having their annual Christmas gathering
on Sunday, the 6th of December at 3:00. I'll get more info on the
theme and time of their party later. The Irish Heritage Society
was founded by the late Henry Weldon, who also founded Cumann na Gaeilge
i mBoston. Their focuses on the cultural aspects of Ireland. In
the past they have had storytellers from Derry, Fr. Joe from Southill
in Limerick, William Bulger, artists, photographers, both Irish
and non-Irish alike. If you like to meet the who's who for Boston's
Irish, come to one of their get-togethers and you'll meet everyone
from the Boston Irish Consulate to John Curran on the Sound of Erin.

The Irish American Heritage festival's Christmas Gathering will
be held at Milton Academy, Straus Building, on Sunday, December
6 from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. Admission is $7.50 or $3 for the younguns.
I'm not sure what the program is, but I'm sure it will be worthwhile
in any case.
