247.0. "Uilleann Pipes in Vermont" by ERIC::LARS () Thu Aug 13 1987 12:57
This is an extract from the Uilleann Piper's magazine 'An Piobaire'
which may be of interest to those on the other side of the pond:-
The third North American Northumbrian Pipers' Convention will
take place on the week-end 29, 30, 31 August at the North Hero Village
Hall, North Hero, Lake Champlain Islands, Vermont, U.S.A.
The program for the event is interesting and varied with tuition
by Richard Butler, piper to the Duke of Northumberland. Workshops
are by pipemakers David Quinn and Michael McHarg. A concert shall
feature many different types of bagpipe and a traditional folk dance
will be held. Books and records will be on sale.
Uilleann piping shall feature in the convention and it is planned
to have some well-known pipers present. Full details of the event
with available accommodation can be obtained from Alan Jones P.O.
Box 130, Rouses Point, New York 12979.-
Sounds like it might be fun.
