240.0. "Scots VS Irish: The myth" by USAT03::MICHAEL () Fri Jul 24 1987 16:35
I am Christie residing in Atlanta, Georgia USA from gContae Kerry.
Located in the Claru na mbreit asus na mbas one would find my
Ainm: Christie Kathleen Andrews Michael (english spelling),
tasteless, wouldn't ya say.... Mother: Edinburgh
Father: i gContae Clare
As of late, I have heard a great deal from the Irish Americans and
the Scot Americans about not getting on together. Let me dispel
this myth now. The Irish and the Scots have no quarrel. As a matter
of fact neither one of us care much for English politics and it
is in bad form to start any row with our English friends. Our heritage
is so mixed that our culture and language are similar in form.
We are brothers and sisters in blood. The only visual difference
is that the Scots have a tight hand on the almighty Pound, and the
Irish are a bit free with the Quid.
I have lived with this mix for many years and so have aquired the
great talent of balancing a harp, in a kilt, stone bloody jarred!
Are their any other "breeds" our there?
