Maybe because we're the quiet unassuming types? ;-)
>Does it take something like the traumas of the Irish struggle

I thought that was going to happen in note 222. I'm still waiting for a reply
from the original author.
>Have the Scots become Anglicised?
>(That should get some reaction!)
I certainly hope not.
>I would be interested to hear from the Scots.
I'm half Scottish, and half Irish and I would like to hear more from our
friends on the other side or on this side doesn't matter to me.

| While I'm glad to see some additional dialog about the Scots, I'm
a little cautious about getting into a row about cultural personality.
In fact, that's probably why I read (selectively) more than write
to this conference.
For the record, I've about 90% Scots ancestry - Sinclair, MacDonald,
MacDougal, Sutherland, MacWhorter - the list goes on....(my mother's
into genealogy). The rest of the blood line is a smattering of
English (Fields) and Irish (Walker).
My interest in this conference is (selfishly) to know more about
the culture of my family, and I have trouble relating to the
impassioned political dialog which is so frequently the current
which runs through this notesfile.
And lastly, I am more ignorant than I care to admit about "the old
country" and so seldom have anything constructive to add. I am,
however, learning a great deal.

Greetings,
I, too, wonder where the Scots are in this conference...we are
part of the great Celtic culture and traditions as much, if not
more, than the Irish, the Welsh, the Britons, etc...and I hope to
God we have not become "too Anglicized"....
I am of Scottish, Irish, English, Canadian, and American Indian
descent, but am particularly proud of my Highlander heritage, which
includes sept alliance with the Farquaharson and MacKintosh clans...
I'd love to hear from other Scottish-Americans, and keep us
all up to date on all the regional cultural activities, etc., such
as the recent appearances in Boston, Worcester, and Providence of
the Royal Grenadier Guards and Gordon Highlanders...it was great!

| I am not sure how much if any of my ancestry is Scottish, but I
wish it were 100%! I have always been very enamored with the Scottish
traditions and heritage and etc, and have become more and more involved
of late in things Scottish (except for all of the Scotty dog
paraphernalia which is a bit excessive). Currently I am learning
the Great Highland Bagpipes, Scottish Country Dancing, and some
Highland dance steps (primarily for the Fling).
So I will speak up as one of the Scots. Marge

Well speaking as a Scot, the reason I haven't written in this
conference before is because I have just discovered it. You'll
be hearing more from this Scottish Gael anyway.

| Re 224.4
Hello there,
I'm afraid to say Scotland is becoming more and more
'Anglicized' every year. I feel we are being diluted by the English.
I find it so sick that us Scots through History at school learn more
about William the Conquerer than the likes of Ancient Scotland and we
are also often made to feel ashamed of the likes of William Wallace.
The fact that the population of Scotland has 20% non
Scottish born people in it, the bulk of them english also disturbs me
and many of my friends. I hope things change politically soon so this
rot can be stopped before it is irreversable.
Time to read more notes...

whats the question again?
oh...are the Scots becoming "Anglicized" yup a bit but the re-emergence
of popular Scottish heroes gettting big screen attention from Hollywood
mayeb it'll stir nationalistic pride and made people get off their
arses and do something about it.Scotland has waaaay too may 90 minute
patriots!
