84.0. "Lets have a CELT party !!" by ENGGSG::BURNS (It's a long way from Clare to here) Tue Oct 07 1986 10:23

In the event that Mike Hughes (a.k.a "The Snake") does not receive
his "Green_Card" or an offer of steady employment in the U.S.A .....

A party is planned for Friday night October 24th, to be held at
Kathleen n Houlinans in Nashua New Hampshire. Mr. Hughes has kindly
agreed to provide us with song and story in his native tongue
prior to the nights entertainment. Mike is "infamous" for his version
of "The Unicorn" and may take over the stage if we don't keep him
occupied in conversation. This party will start around 7:00 p.m, which
will give you enough time to "Meet Mike" before the management realizes
what kind of character "The Snake" really is, and asks us all to leave.

This party will be held the night before "The Snake" returns home to
Galway Ireland, and it is also "The Snakes" BIRTHDAY .. ooops I was not
supposed to mention anything about B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y-S

I would be great if some of the CELT noters could attend, as this may be
the last time "The Snake" visits America once his manager realizes that
he actually came here just to view the foilage. I know "The Snake"
would do the same for you, if ever you were to visit Ireland.

Anyone needing directions or further info, send mail at ENGGSG::BURNS

p.s. Even people associated with "Cork" are invited ;-)

It's my understanding that a formal reception is still planned for
Mr Hughes this Friday (the 24th) at 8 o'clock. There was some confusion
     about the time. 8 o'clock = half-40, Irish time.

For those who don't know Houlihan's: it's in downtown Nashua,
across from the Stable pub. Directions:

From the south: Take Route 3 north (it intersects 495 in Lowell and
128 in Burlington) to New Hampshire, then take Exit 5E (Rt 111 east)
in Nashua. Follow 111 east (Kinsley Street) for about a mile, and
you'll reach a set of traffic signals where you must turn either left
or right (Main St.) Turn left on Main, then go straight through 4
sets of lights. At the fifth set of lights (Canal St/Railroad Sq., at
the Dunkin Donuts), turn right and Kathleen N Houlihan's is about
100 yards ahead on the right.

From Manchester/Merrimack: Take the Everett Turnpike south, and get
off at exit 7E (Rt. 101A east, Amherst St.). Follow 101A/Amherst St.
about 2 miles, then turn right at Main St. (a large intersection with
5 streets leading into it). Turn left at the first traffic light on
Main St. (Canal St/Railroad Sq.), and Houlihan's is 100 yards ahead on
     the right.

From Hudson/Derry: Take the bridge from Hudson Center to Nashua (Rt
111), then take the Canal Street turn-off as soon as you cross the
bridge. Follow Canal St, and Houlihan's is on the left, about
100 yards before you reach Main st.
84.9TSC01::MAILLARDMon Oct 20 1986 14:384
I'll be thinking to you: while you'll be enjoying your party, I'll
be at the theater, watching 'Purple Dust' by Sean O'CASEY.

I'm not 100% certain if "The Snake" will be at Houlihans on Thurday.
My guess is that he "probably" will be, but I can't guarantee it.
The next time I talk to him, I'll check and see what his plans are.
I will be there, Mike Foley "said" he would be there, and as for
Mr. Topaz....well, some things are better left unsaid ;-)

Leaprechauns are still producing porter shites.

I want to say a heartfelt thank you to those folks who showed up
at Houlihan's. It was a night that I'll never forget, or that I'll
ever be allowed to forget. So many people outdid themselves in
showing me hospitality, that I'm embarrassed. I look forward with
great glee to being in a position whereby I can return the compliment.
If I were to name some names, it would do injustice to those people
that I would omit. I regret not having met Tom Reilley or George
Darcy, but there'll be agin in it.
To those of ye who have not yet sampled the fare at Kathleen
Ni Houlihans of Nashua, ye'd want to be making ammends A.S.A.P.
Its a mighty place for the crack.

Snake is getting tired now....... I... need..... MORE PORTER.
