60.0. "Celtic jam, anyone?" by SWSNOD::RPGDOC () Tue Jul 15 1986 19:06

    Are there any Celtic musicians in the Maynard area who would like
    to get together and play some music once in a while.

    I live in Acton and play pennywhistle, concertina, and melodeon
    - mostly Scottish and Irish traditional music, though (Dare I mention
    it here) I used to play for a team of Morris dancers.

60.1How bout once a year?RHETT::MCABEECan I just do it 'til I need glasses?Wed Jul 23 1986 17:0810
    I live in Atlanta, but I'd like to jam when I'm in the area. I
    I usually play guitar, but when I travel, I take a whistle and
    fiddle or mandolin.

    My ancestors came over from Ireland in colonial times, but,
    according to an aging aunt, my blood is still mostly Irish and
    I do admit to feeling it. Celtic music is one of my greatest loves.

    I think that "The Black Rose" (742-2286) and "The Purple Shamrock"
    (227-2060), both located by Quincy Market in Downtown Boston, they
    use to have informal jam sessions on weekends ???

    Another place to try is "The Kinvara Pub", 34 Harvard Ave, Allston
    Mass. (254-9737) ??

   Then again, you could go to Mc Gann's in Doolin, County Clare, Ireland,
   They "Jam" there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week   :-)

    saw this some time ago and was interested. However, I also live
    in Acton and am up to my *^%^$ in sewers and railroad bridges at
    this time.

60.4I'd love itESPN::HENDRICKSHolly HendricksThu Sep 04 1986 14:587
    I play penny whistle and fiddle for fun, and am thinking about
    acquiring a hammered dulcimer. I'd love to play as long as the
    other players were there for fun and not total perfection!

    What about a round robin type of jam where everyone gets to suggest
    a tune, thereby covering all ability levels? Some could come to
    listen, others to play, others to sing.
60.5Hey I'm interested!LISZT::LIUThu Nov 06 1986 10:435
    Let me know if you ever get a group together. I play guitar
    and hammered dulcimer. But I have no experience playing Celtic
    music. But I've done a lot of listening.
