20.0. "Makem and Clancy" by GROFE::DARCY (George Darcy) Tue Mar 18 1986 10:36

There was a good show on last night about Tommy Makem and the
Clancy brothers on channel 2 WGBH in Boston. It's the second
time I saw the show. It spanned their life from their beginnings
in Ireland to now. Anybody else see it?

More impetus for me to buy a VCR...

There was also another show on this weekend with Makem and Clancy.

It was set in Bunratty Castle.. The set dancers were excellent.

There was also another show on Channel 21 (here in New Hampshire)
with James Galway as the host..

When you get that VCR you can borrow my tape... :-)

I _think_ it was the same show you mentioned, George, but we
caught it on Ch. 44 at 8:30 pm.

    re: .1
the TV Guide had it listed as "Story of the Clancy Brothers
and Tommy Makem" but the title shown on the screen was "It's A Long
Way From Tipperary and Armagh". Very good show.

Also, Sunday evening Ch. 38 in Boston aired six half-hour episodes
of "Party With the Rovers" one after the other. One of the shows
featured Liam Clancy and Tommy Makem. And, no, I didn't tape any
    of them.

This is a great Notesfile you've started, George! Now that I've
discovered it I hope to join in often.

Hi Dermot! THANK YOU! for starting the Dermot International

I was listening to the Celtic music program this afternoon and I
thought the announcer dedicated a tune to Liam Clancy "who died
recently". My son was talking to me and I may have misheard the name.

    Or is it true?

Tom Clancy died in Nov, 1990. Liam was alive and performing in
the Boston area during the last couple of weeks.

I saw Liam Clancy at the Centrepointe Theatre, near Kanata a few weeks
    back.

He had good colour, for a dead man.
