Bon jour !! Anyone seen this happen with the TNS Clerk ? Start TNS clerk... Fatal error at line 149 in file adver_dli_ultrix.c It basically sits and hangs around at startup until we hit Ctrl-C and then it'll continue to start the TNS Server. The demo system seems to work apart from that.. Any hints ? Jka

710.1 | Yes. T3.1 did this but V3.1 is different :-) | 45862::BOND | Mon Apr 14 1997 12:11 | 18
Hi, I believe that problem only occurred with TeMIP T3.1 (ie the field test kit of V3.1) and happens when your system is not physically connected to a network. The TNS Advertiser (I think) trys to send packets out on the ethernet and fails, you get that error message and need to ctrl-c it to get it to exit. V3.1 sort-of fixes the problem. It boots ok and tns will work locally but after some time, the whole IP layer seems to give up because it runs out of buffers due I think to the tns advertiser retrying so tns (and therefore TeMIP) stops working. Rebooting does fix it :-) Note. These problems only occur if you are not physically connected to the LAN. So you really only see them when you are doing standalone demos, etc. Production systems would not expect to see these problems. cb
710.2 | just restart tcpip.... | VAXRIO::TROTTA | Thu Apr 24 1997 04:21 | 5
It is not necessary to reboot. Just restart the network and tns and temip will come back again very quickly. Claudio
