702.0. "TNS problems" by VAXRIO::TULA () Fri Mar 21 1997 21:50
Hi,
We had 8 machines and want to make them all standalone Temip servers. That
means, we want to use TNS with them, with the same namespace and do not want
them to each other. That configuration is just for a course and we do not
have time to create different namespace in all of them.
The first solution seems to be disconnect them from the network. After some time
, it seems that the buffer from the network adapter became full and the network
stop to work. This of course, stop TNS too. The first question is, is there
any way to make the adapter discard the message putted at it buffer?(These
messages seems to be the announces from TNS).
The second solution is to put the machines at different areas so they can't
interfere with the other. It seems that TNS do a broadcast with mask (255.255.255.
0), is that right? With this broadcast the fact that the machines were in
different areas don't stop them from receiving the broadcast. I think that
we can do a filter to avoid receiving this broadcast but I don't know how.
Can anybody give some sugestion about the questions above?
Thank You in advanced,
Tula.
